2004 Toyota RAV4 Cranks But Won’t Start
Question
What causes a 2004 Toyota RAV4 engine to crank but not turn on and begin operating? My RAV4 won’t start but the battery is good because I just replaced it and it still does not start, it just cranks over but will not fire.
So far I have disconnected one of the spark plug wires and checked for spark with a spark tester, and it has sufficient spark. I am suspecting it is a bad fuel pump or relay. How do I check if the fuel pump is the problem?
My vehicle is a 2004 Toyota RAV4 with a 2.4 liter engine.

To check if the fuel pump is working you can stick a funnel (like the one you would use to add engine oil) into the fuel filler. Then turn the key and listen for the fuel pump to come one. The funnel will amplify the sound of the fuel pump.
If you don’t hear the fuel pump come one then test to see if you are getting electrical energy at the harness connection at the fuel pump. If you have power then you need to test the fuel pump.
